mmmm salad

not exacly super low cal or anything, because of the dressing, but I just had a super yummy salad. I picked up this new salad topper thing that is honey roasted almonds and orange cranberries and put that on basic salad mix, with somediced up left over italian chicken from the other night and a drizzling of vidalia onion dressing and omg was it ever yummy! just thought I'd share, lol

My Results...

Okay, had my weigh in/measure... I'm both happy and sad about the results. I gained a half pound, BUT I lost 2.36 lbs of body fat. So the gain is muscle weight (plus I'm pmsing and bloated). I lost 3.75 inches off my waist, but gained 1.25 around my abdomen (again bloating I think) Those are my only losses, the body fat and the 3 3/4 inches aroun my waist. So the way they figured it though, was that I lost a total of 2.5 inches, gained 1/2 lb, but lost 2.36 lbs body fat. I had absolutely no changes in measurements in my other areas they measure, but that's okay, because I can feel the fat/muscle difference in those areas a little bit. Now, this loss, no matter how minor, is strictly from exercise and increasing my water intake. I've not changed anything else. So that was sort of an experiment for me. I still eat like a pig and lost some, lol. So, now I'm going to try and watch my calorie intake during the next month and see how much the difference is. Instead of snacking, I'm going to drink water or pick up some low cal snacks like fresh veggies to snack on and see what changes for my next month. I'm also going to try and consume my 24 oz of dairy per day (which is supposed to aid weight loss) since I need the calcium anyhow... So there's my update for now!

weigh in...

okay so I have my first weigh in measure tomorrow at Curves. I'm really anxious to see if I've lost anything. I think I've maybe lost some inches, but not any weight... we shall see. My biggest issue is food. I have a hard time eating right. I have increased my water intake though, so I'm sure that helps some... So, those of you who joined curves as well, how's that going for you so far?? The one major thing I've noticed is I'm not as tired all the time. Though this week doesn't count cuz I have PMS, lol...

:( Whine Whine...

I have to open today. Kinda sucks. I like sleeping in. That's okay, I'll take all the hours I can get considering I need to save up at least another 1200 over the next 2 months. Not sure how I'm going to do that. even if I spent nothing, I'd probably only have... no wait, if I spent absolutely nothing, I could probably do it. Unfortunately, I have to spend most of it on food and gas, argh. Time to buy a lotto ticket and hope for the best! ha ha ha!

So excited!

I'm so excited! I have a TS party tomorrow, a catlog party in progress and another party scheduled for the 1st. Now if I can get some bookings off the one tomorrow, since it's local, I'll be happy happy happy. Heck, even if I can get one off of the one in oak harbor I'll be happy. just to have parties and bookings. I'll be a bit rusty, because I've not had one since before thanksgiving, but it's all good. There's so much to do though to prep. I best get on it fast!

blah blah blah

Not too much to talk about. Same crap different day! I go to work out this morning, I always look forward to that. I made a really awesome soup/stew last night for dinner out of leftovers. Everyone loved it. It was supposed to be like a vegetable beef minestrone type soup, but the veggies and pasta soaked up all the liquids, so it came out more like a stew. Next time I'll forego the pasta and chunk up some potatoes and put that in instead. I just took left over pot roast (I make mine in a pot or crock with campbells beefy mushroom soup and water) and all the saved stock, added an extra can of soup, more water, canned tomaotes, carrots, celery, white onion, kidney beans and pasta shells, w/salt pepper and garlic powder and simmered it for a couple hours. It was a smash hit. Next time I'm throwing in some stew meat and potatoes and leaving out the pasta and making it a real stew. mmmm yummy! Not bad for using up leftovers and doing it w/out a recipe! Thanks dad for teaching me to cook! lol... So, anyhow, back to the working out topic... I go for my first weigh in/measure next week. I'm very anxious to see what my first month results are. Anyhow, it's early and I still have some time to sleep, so I should do that before Alex wakes up!

:)

Well, I've been a member of curves for a week now. I have to say, it's going quite well for me thus far. In more aspect than one... I'm feeling better physically, feeling better mentally, sleeping better, and am promoting my TS business at the same time, ha ha ha! The gal that signed me up, when asking what I did for a living, got very excited to find out I'm a TS consultant. She told me to bring in catalogs and post them on the bulletin board. As soon as I get my new seasonal catalogs in, I'll be doing that Anyhow, back to the original topic. I never imagined that starting to work out would do so much for me both physically and mentally. I can already tell that I'm going to see some results after my first month. I have set a goal, and that's to loose at least an inch a month. At that rate I'll loose my target goal of 15 inches in 15 months, which is kinda slow, but I'm sure my goals will change once I start seeing the real results over time. Oh, one more thing I noticed... I started my cycle this morning, and I had no cramps! I've not had a cycle w/o cramps in a long time, so that was really cool. So yeah, yea for working out and feeling good.... I'm such a happier person now! I walked out of there, in 37 degree weather w/o a coat on today, and wasn't freezing my ass off, lol... Now I know how the joggers do it in the rain and cold.... ha ha ha

Veggies may contain hidden risk?

Veggies may contain hidden risk?

So I found this to be very interesting... Makes me want to start growing my own fruits and veggies again like we did when I was a kid. I probably will once we get in a place of our own (if that ever freaking happens). I'm sure I can put up a small greenhouse or something... there's so many that you can just slap together now a days that are pretty inexpensive. Anyhow, read on....

KING

Some fresh vegetables and fruits have to carefully washed.

Mike Stein recently ate some food that left more than a bad taste in his mouth.

"We got home and I started feeling queasy," he said.

He got violently ill and figured it was from the food. So he called the health department and was surprised by what they said was to blame for his bad reaction.

"They suspected that it was some kind of contamination on the vegetables," he said. "They indicated that this is not an unusual situation."

In fact, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, contaminated fruits and vegetables now cause more food-borne illness than meat, poultry or eggs, and the problem is growing.

"When we look at all of our outbreaks, about 13 percent of those people got ill from eating a fresh fruit or vegetable - one that was consumed raw - and that's double what we saw 10, 15 years ago," said Dr. Patricia Griffin of the CDC.

The CDC said one reason is the increased popularity of pre-cut produce.

"Once a fruit or vegetable has been cut, it can be a better medium for growth of bacteria," said Griffin.

Also, veggies now come from more places, including overseas, and the overall process is tough to track.

"For example, lettuce is harvested. It will get washed, but maybe it will be in wash water that's contaminated," aid Griffin.

The biggest culprits, according to the government, are lettuce, melons, sprouts, tomatoes and green onions.

"Another big problem has been unpasteurized juice," said Griffin.

Fruits and vegetables are a critical part of a balanced diet, so no one is suggesting you avoid them.

But the CDC does have some recommendations.

"Wash your fresh fruits and vegetables before you eat them; peel your fruits and cut out any parts that are bad," said Griffin.

Refrigeration after peeling and cutting is key, and as your mother always said, wash your hands before you eat, too.

The CDC says it's tough to know just how big the problem is because most people don't report their illnesses.

They urge you to contact your health department if you think you've eaten contaminated food. That will help officials trace bad food sources and protect others.

Beyond Frustrated

I'm so beyond frustrated right now. I'm in the process of trying to find a place of my own so I can get the kids and I out of my friends house. I've called so many rental listings only to get answering machines and leave messages that I swear they never bother listening to. Or if they do they don't bother to call me freaking back. It's really really pissing me off, because I'm stuck. If no one will at least return my call, then what am I to do? I'll just keep calling ads and leaving messages I guess. Eventually SOMEONE will call me back, right? I just feel at a loss though, like I might as well not even bother calling because no one wants to bother calling me back. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Workout, Day 2

Went for my second workout today. It was easier than the first. Two times around the circuit in a half hour and my heart rate stayed in the target range for the most part. I downed one full bottle of water thus far and am about to start on my 2nd. And I've already gotten 2 buddy referrals, so I get a free Curves water bottle and a t-shirt! lol... (both Katy and her mom joined today, following my lead). I'm feeling great today, have more energy (went to be earlier too though) and am just in a generally good mood. It felt great walking out of there today knowing that I was doing something good for myself though... I'm going to also try to sneak more fruits and veggies into my diet, as I don't eat nearly enough of those... So yea! Another day of feeling good about myself! :D

First Workout

So I had my first workout. I can't believe how easy it is! I had a blast and learned the machines really fast. Kinda shocked my trainer, because I picked them up so fast. I went 2 times around the circut. Once to show me each machine and a second time me doing it on my own. I'm going to love this! I didn't even realize that I'd gone around one full time on my own until my trainer told me that I was done, that I'd gone all the way around already, lol... I did get a bit winded, but I think I'm better off than I would have been if I hadn't been doing a lot of walking lately. I think between all the walking, work (lots of walking and climbing ladders) and working out at curves, I'll drop this extra weight in no time... I think I'll go every other day at the very least, or at least try to... And try to stick to early mornings as well...
