Update on the poo situation...and a vent
okay, so here's the update on our "poopy" situation around here... And some more insight... Quite often we get the "blame" for things that go awry around here. If it's something a child has done, it obviously was one of my boys that did it (whether they did or not). If it's something wrong with the computer then it's something Vicki must have done to it (when all she does is read fan fictions on safe sites, check her hotmail and use messenger). So this time, it was "obviously" one of "us" that "broke"/ backed up the sewer line as once again, one of us was the one to find the issue and report it. Right after Vicki let them know what was going on, they started talking amongst themselves and then moved to another room to finish said conversation out of earshot. While I know we've invaded their home, and have kind of turned their "perfect" little world sideways, and I've expressed my appreciation for their hospitality on many occasions (as well as give them what money I can afford to try and offset the added water and power we consume, and buy groceries that are shared by most in the house) it still doesn't warrant being the "fall guys" for every "wrong" that happens around here. At least in my opinion it doesn't. So I think it was pretty shitty (forgive the pun) for the assumption to be automatically made that it was something that was caused by us. So anyhow, on to the update on the sewer situation... I'm happy to report, it was something COMPLETELY not caused by anyone living in the residence. Nor former occupants of the residence for that matter. The culprit in the sewer issue? A nice tree living in the front yard. Wonderful beautiful tree's roots have decided that the 1960's era pipes from house to city sewer line in the street are in the way. And rather than grow around said pipes, have decided to grow into them. There was a bucketful of tree roots that came out of the sewer line. The guy was like, holy hell that's a lot of tree roots! So $345 later for all the work of cutting and pulling out the roots and cleaning the line, the guy explains above story to us and lets us know that it would probably be a good idea to get yearly root clearing maintenance done on the pipes at around $200 a pop, or remove afore mentioned beautiful wonderful tree that is wrecking havoc on the sewer pipes. My best guess is that beautiful wonderful tree is going to become warm happy firewood before this year is over, lol...
